Summary: This indicator, originally by Pyotr Wojdyo for the metastock trading platform, uses the idea that there is enough trend directional force to enter a trade. This indicator builds upon this idea with the addition of volume force spikes.
Volume Trend Direction Force Index on the Charts
The indicator's output will show green values above the filter threshold for an upward trend direction, and red values below the filter threshold for a downward trend.
Between the threshold values, the indicator's output will be grey.
Additionally, there is a volume force index that outputs a blue line when outside these filter thresholds.

The parameters for the indicator's calculations can be changed by locating and opening the Javascript Code under Data Building Procedure -> Procedure Loop under "VTDFI" Procedure Loop.
Example:
This indicator can be used as a confirmation to a primary indicator. An example of a confirmation could be when the output value rises above the threshold value: 
 chart.at30min.vtdfi.value > 0.05
